If you asked: "Give me a stone that isn't too soft, isn't too hard, has great feedback, is splash and go, and has its own base but won't cost me an arm and a leg,", we're reaching for the Shapton Kuromaku every time.
Somewhat reminiscent of the Chosera (albeit with a slightly thinner stone), the Kuromaku are a splash and go dream. Softer than the Glass HR, harder than Suehiro Cerax, they represent excellent value.
Grit: #120 -> #320 -> #1000 -> #5000 -> #8000

Accessories Information
The Ikyu 1000 grit is definitely different from many other stones we stock. Due to it's unique production method and relatively secretive blend ratio, it feels coarser, cuts faster, and feels more like a natural stone compared to many other 1000 grits.
The 3000 and 6000 synthetic/natural powder (Mikawa Nagura) blend are perfect finishers for most stainless steels (AUS8/10, VG10, Ginsan are best on 3000) and provide a very toothy yet refined everyday edge for carbon knives. These stones need to be soaked before use.
